Reasons for giving Gifts
There are many reasons why people buy or give gifts. First and foremost, it is the tradition to give gifts on occasions like Christmas and New Year. Another reason for giving gifts to others is that others are of value to us. Gift-giving occasions are opportunities to affirm one's personal bonds to loved ones. If you ask me I don’t think there needs to be a specific occasion to give a gift. It is just a way of showing affection that should happen all the time. Gifts are given to mark milestones such as birthdays, anniversaries, and special events like the birth of a baby, graduations, retirements, baptisms and first communions. Gifts are given for accomplishments. We may also send gifts to reward another’s behaviour such as a promotion or some achievement. Online shopping stores like Etsy has a wonderful range of gifts at affordable prices. Through online shops you can even send presents to those who stay in another country. For the first time I feel like my lifelong dream is becoming a reality. Also, I am delighted to say that I am working very closely with different art professionals on very exciting art projects that are going to take place this year in France and Greece. More details soon! I believe it`s just a matter of time until my work will gain international acclaim. In the next few months/years the value of my work will increase considerable. Hence my work of art is not just an artwork that you can only hang on your wall but it is a great investment. I was mentioning earlier about being generous this season. Until next time I wish you a wonderful rest of the week and I am hoping to see you at the private view. I've known I was an alien since I was very young girl. I always did things differently and I couldn’t speak until the age of six. However now that I am grown up I feel more confused than ever. When I paint I go into a trance moment that I can’t control. No one taught me how to paint like I do and I have never copied anothers work. When I wake up from this trance I see shapes and forms on my canvas that I can’t explain. I can’t explain how I create those magnificent landscapes. My grandmother thinks that I have been blessed by God to show what Heaven looks like. So that is what I do. I share my vision about another world which may exist somewhere else.
This Season I want to be good! Because we are entering into the season of surprises and presents every week I will be offering a painting at a very affordable prize. Stay tuned as you could actually get one of my unique works of art for half prize. As my birthday is on Christmas day and because I really care about my fans I want to be very generous with you . Wow, it has been a crazy week for me! I made the decision to get myself ‘out there’ more so from now I will attend more private views and exhibitions. It’s a great way to check out just what is happening in this fantastic city and meet some exciting people too. Besides creating art, I wanted to dedicate my time to searching for impressive works and talking with all kinds of people who also love checking out what’s new.
My first outing was on the 15th of October when I went to see the incredible show at White Cube Gallery in Bermondsey. The work on display was by Larry Bell. I was blown away! Often I have been asked when was the last time I had seen an exhibition that really impressed me. I think I can probably answer that question now. (It was very tough for me to answer in the past because, and I hate to say this, I haven’t been impressed by a lot of work for some time. It seemed to me that many have been doing copies of other artists with a small twist and it was all beginning to look rather same-y if I am totally honest.) But Larry Bell`s work and his show have completely inspired me! Consequently there seems to be a lack of interest in searching for something really unique. Some curators, art critics and gallery administrators seem to have really lost their minds. How can you give a prize and so much power to an artist who doesn't have a sense of challenge, a love and courage for experiment, nor an understanding of colours? It seems like the knowledge of shape, the language of pigment and the romantic vision filled with soul seems to have vanished. Is everybody really talking about other people’s pains and not their own, because they know they have been lucky enough not to experience it? It’s just a thought. I think personally that if you don’t have that story then let the people whose pain is burning deeper create work. Exceptionally sensitive people are the only ones who can create something truly outstanding and authentic, in my opinion. Have we all forgotten who really helped us to reach this current stage? Who really inspired us to grow and push the boundaries? Who really taught us that there was no impossible and the possible is always within reach? Can you imagine what Michelangelo or Leonardo Da Vinci would feel if they are looking down on us? How have we taken their genius creations to the next level? I think we all are going backwards and not forward. Where is the genius creativity? Anyway, lets go back to Larry Bell paintings. The way he played with the colorful papers and creating the illusion game of landscapes was incredible. He has got the understanding of social culture's needs. An artist who truly pushes the boundaries. Adding to all of this arty drunkenness suddenly I noticed in the crowd one of the most established artists right now. He was Sir Peter Blake, the Godfather of British Pop Art. I went across and told him how honored I felt to have met him. I asked him if he would mind having his picture taken with me and he kindly accepted. I offered him one of my business cards and he said smiling: “This is one of the most unique cards I ever seen.” That made me feel so proud. A few days later I went to see the Frieze Art Fair and the day after, The Other Art Fair. My opinions on that? more to come... Shocking story!Shocking images!
The Romanian government right now are cruelly catching every stray they can see in every town and village and horrifically battering, poisoning and stabbing them to death. Tiny puppies, pregnant bitches NONE are being spared the barbarity.Horrible images, shocking stories!Lets do something about it! The Romanian Government and the European Parliament: End Romanias Government abuse of public funds chn.ge/1jJh891 via @change "I couldn’t stop crying when I heard from my mum what was happening in Romania. The government will pay 200 Euros per dog head. My mum was screaming on the phone while watching the horrific news on television. They were showing how dogs were killed live. How can you look into their eyes and take their life out of them? What gives us the right to kill them? They have as much right to survive as we do on this planet. Those dogs have more soul than so many of those people who stands for this crime." Laura Iosifescu Laura Iosifescu harnesses Earth’s energy to paint a brand new landscape
London, UK, September 2013 A new generation of artists’ avant- garde began to emerge. We thought we knew everything about painting and how we could place paint on a surface but Laura Iosifescu has broken the rules of convention by utilising machines to create uncanny imaginary landscapes. Her tools have become a hybrid of machine and organism, a creature of social reality as well as a creature of fiction, a female reproductive monster of forms of life. Iosifescu has just completed her work on the series “The Outbreak”. She believes the mechanical reproduction of her landscapes articulate the symbiotism of the society in which we live. However mechanic our society might be, it is organic. Like Nature, culture and society’s basic raison d’etre is to grow, give life, reproduce, but simultaneously appear unchanging. Pushing the materiality of paint to the extreme speaks her desire to impact on the world, to influence and demodulate the future. Her obsession emanates from the need to use mechanical tools to create the "landscapes of society", to commune with cities and the metropolis that constantly shift and reshape the natural environment. The representation of this flux which impacts profoundly on culture, milieu and society is the central motif in my work. Anatomy and surface, beauty and ugliness, destruction and creation are intrinsic to the artist Laura Iosifescu: ‘I am interested in the celebration of energy and death, nature and cruelty, abundance; colour and fantastical landscapes.’ ‘I don’t record landscapes from a specific place, space or time, my observations lead me to offer a sense of peace and a new creative form that presents my interpretation of life through paint.’ Iosifescu says.’ Yes, nature is an inspiration but so are life’s events and our own experiences. Cruelty and misery can disfigure accepted notions of Nature’s purity or bounty.’ Her work has already been recognised by ARTSLANT, Category Mixed Media earlier this year and she has been called ‘an image poet’. Earlier exhibitions in Newcastle sold out completely. Her paintings are raw and organic but truly three dimensional. They are not simply a trace but a new alien form of life. These paintings are about the contradiction between the mechanical application of paint and the powerful sense of growth and its resultant energy that drives every process on the planet. Once the originals are experienced they can never be forgotten. You can arrange a studio visit by contacting Laura I know most of you have been expecting news from me. Well I am so sorry for not letting you know about what was going on with me... I was away for a month and I had very poor internet connections, I swear! But I am happy to be back. I am writing to you and at the same time I am looking through my schedule. I think I will be spending all day in my studio space painting. I have decided that my blog is going to become a journal in which I will be sharing not only news about my practice but also my thoughts about what is going on right now in my head. What do you think? My vision is to create a legacy that is going to last forever. Every single challenge that I take on, both in my life and in my work, is for only one purpose. That is to inspire people around me to do the same. My life put me in tough situations in which I had to come out stronger than ever: from being a young person without childhood dealing with poverty, to being an adult without a home dealing with misery and death. I use my paintings not only to create a safe place for myself but to make an impact on the world and change people’s lives. I have realised that the paintings I create make people listen, and consequently I believe that will give me the power one day to really make the changes that I want. I know that is how I am going to change the world. I will tell you a story that will give you a sense about all of this. Four years ago my grandparents lost their only two sons in the same year, one being my father. Imagine what a mother must feel when losing everything that she was living for, the shock she was going through. One day she told me. “Last night I prayed to God to save my sons souls and take them by His side in Heaven and then I saw a picture of your work and I understood that God has given you a gift Laura. Bless all of us by allowing us to see how Heaven looks through your paintings”. Since then her pain became bearable knowing that they are in this wonderful place waiting to see their loved ones again. Now it makes so much sense. Before I never knew where all those ideas and creativity come from. When I paint I am going into an unconscious transformation to another world. I have a natural gift to painting and I believe this is for a bigger purpose. I just want to find those one or two visionary people who share the essence of farsightedness and who will support me throughout this incredible journey. True visionaries often see possibilities where others see difficulty. So if you know you are that person or you know the person I am talking about please let me know. I know I might look insignificant in comparison with other, more established artists but is not about who I am now . It is about who I can become tomorrow and about the greatness I can achieve. "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It`s not." Dr.Seuss "ONE OF A KIND" PROJECT HAS NOW ENDED!
