Artist Statement
My work is very much inspired by Nature. I believe my love for Nature reflects in each of my paintings. I am trying to place nature as a language, particularly how the colours of nature carry meaning. For me painting is not about producing images but is about conveying feelings about love, sorrow, life and death.I evoke feeling through the materiality of paint.I love to paint imaginary landscapes .I am creating my own Nature through the use of paint and layers which is often extreme. I like to allow the work to be excessive and controlled; and at the same moment use ideas to do with abundance and sensuality combined with an idea of social displacement. My paintings aims are to seduce and lure the viewer in, however the density of the landscape also acts as a type of overbearing threat or beautiful repellent. To me is very important the mark I am making and I am always looking at different ways of positioning and placing the paint on the canvas by using various unconventional tools or my invented machines to paint.
